Tripartite cards are a versatile material that provides benefits at different stages of a child's development. Parents can use tripartite cards to prepare their child for reading, and then, once the child can read, the cards can be used to practice reading skills. Children as young as one can use tripartite cards to match pictures and objects. However, the purpose of tripartite cards goes beyond just language development. Working with the cards also helps children make connections, categorize objects, and better understand the world around them.

How to use the cards:

• First, the parent places the control cards in a row in front of them, telling their child the name of each word in the picture.
• Once the control cards are placed, the parent gives the child each card that has only a picture on it. This step is simply matching the pictures.
• The final step is to match the word cards. If your child cannot read yet, read the label aloud as you give it to them. The child then places the label under the corresponding picture card.
• The child then checks their work to make sure the pictures, labels, and check cards match.
• You can then shuffle the 3-piece card set and encourage the child to repeat the activity.
